Uptown: This part of Charlotte used to be the business hub with plenty of business headquarters and official buildings. However, since the 90's the neighborhood has seen an influx of residents as well and high rise residential buildings have surfaced which have led to other venues for entertainment such as shopping arcades and bars.
NoDa: This is short for North Davidson Street and is also referred to as the Historical Arts District. The area experienced a sharp decline after the closure of a textile mill in the 70's which supported most of the residents. Lately however, the arrival of artists and painters has brought back a distinct flavor and the old brick buildings which had been ignored for so long, have now been renovated and refurbished. There are several galleries in the area which provide an opportunity for local talent o exhibit their talent.
South End: This area has fast developed from an industrial area to a cultural center with plenty of entertainment and shops. South end also has a number of galleries due to the emerging design industry in Charlotte.
Myers Park: This is one of the oldest and most expensive neighborhoods with trees lining the gently winding avenues and rustic buildings from the 19th century. It also has the Queens University of Charlotte and the Freedom Park.
